Workers' Rights: What Every Employee Should Know

✍️ FJC Advocates📅 June 2, 2026
The Cameroon Labour Code (Law No. 92/007) establishes fundamental protections for workers across both public and private sectors. As an employee, you are entitled to a written employment contract, reasonable working hours (40 hours per week in non-agricultural sectors), paid annual leave, and protection against unfair dismissal. Important rights include: • Minimum wage guarantees • Protection against workplace discrimination • Right to form and join trade unions • Maternity leave protections for women • Severance pay upon termination If your employer violates any of these rights, you can file a complaint with the Labour Inspector or seek legal assistance through organizations like FJC.
